Can You “Stack” Mushrooms? (Combining Different Types)

Can you take different types of mushrooms at the same time?

A common question with functional mushrooms is whether or not you can “stack” different mushroom supplements, ie. take multiple types of mushrooms at the same time or as part of a blended supplement strategy.

The answer is 💯 yes you can, and it is actually a very popular thing to do!

Although individual mushrooms have unique benefits, mushrooms can work on your body and mind synergistically.

You don’t have to choose just one!

Team-ing With Fungi

I always like to think of different functional mushroom types as having their own superpowers. For example- Reishi is the calm and wise one, Cordyceps is the high-energy one, Lion’s Mane is brainiac, and Turkey Tail is the ultimate defender.

Blending different mushrooms together is like joining forces with a whole team of super-heroes.

You just need to find out where you can use the most support, and build the mushroom team that is right for you.

Dosage

So once you choose your type, how do you know how much to take?

Generally speaking, 1-3 grams total of extracted mushrooms is a commonly used and recommended dose. If you’re using different mushroom extract powders, it is easy to mix and match different mushroom types at different amounts to stay within that range.

Of course, if you’re looking to deal with a specific condition, it’s best to talk to your doctor or natural health care practitioner to get specific recommendations.

I love hearing from mushroom-lovers letting me know how they like to combine mushroom types.

Corydyceps & Lion’s Mane

This seems to be one of the most popular combinations. Cordyceps is known as the “energy mushroom” and Lion’s Mane as the “smart mushroom”, so this is one for the person who wants to get stuff done and be focused while doing it!

Reishi & Chaga

For the person who wants to be a little more cool, calm and collected, Reishi and Chaga seems to be a good combo. Reishi is used for stress support and sleep, while Chaga is a do-it-all mushroom that also is used to calm the gut.

Thrive 6 & Turkey Tail

For those looking for the ultimate in immune defense, this is usually a popular stack. The thing that unites all medicinal mushrooms is the ability to support the immune system, so the 6 mushroom blend is ideal. But out of all the mushrooms, the one most well known for immune support is Turkey Tail, so adding that in gives your mushroom defense regime that extra punch.

My Favorite Stack

Personally, my favorite stack is our Ultimate Mushroom Complex. It has a synergistic blend of 6 different mushrooms (Reishi, Chaga, Maitake, Lion’s Mane, Turkey Tail and Cordyceps) in equal proportions. I can take it in a capsule, or mix it into a smoothie and know that I am teaming up with a powerful troupe of super-mushrooms every day.
